Yellow Loosestrife (Lysimachia vulgaris) is a statuesque, wildlife-friendly native that thrives in moist soil and puts on a spectacular show in summer. Its tall stems are topped with cheerful yellow flowers that pollinators can’t resist - especially solitary bees, hoverflies, and pollen-hungry beetles.
Not to be confused with its cousin (Purple Loosestrife), this one’s a brilliant garden companion that stays politely in its patch when given the right conditions. It’s perfect near pond edges, stream banks, or in any damp or clay-heavy soil - and its root system even helps stabilise the soil in wilder planting schemes.
Grown in peat-free plugs and pots, and without pesticides, this Loosestrife is as kind to the planet as it is to your pollinators.
