NEW! Wild Your Garden – House Martin Cups – Hand Made in UK – Eco Friendly!

NO NEED FOR AN ADDITIONAL BACKING PLATE WITH THIS! SEE JOEL'S VIDEO ON YOUTUBE "How I'll Be Helping Wildlife This Winter"
  • Joel's favourite bird and once a common sight in summer, House Martin's are in severe decline - red listed in the UK.  Just like our House Sparrow, they have the name House in their given name for a reason.  But due in part to an increase of UPVC cladding and fascia, over the years and after arduous journeys from Africa, these birds arrive here to find their nest sites have disappeared.  It can take 10 days to rebuild a nest that they could have utilised from last year - help save their energy and allow them to concentrate on finding insects with this NEW eco-friendly and custom-built Wild Your Garden nest cup.  Our house martin cups are 3D printed from a mixture of cornstarch and sawdust, making them just about as eco-friendly as you can get.  Built to stand the test of time, should you wish to remove and dispose of one of our cups, they're fully biodegradable in the right conditions!

Hanging a House Martin cup is a breeze. The pre-shaped screw holes ensure a hassle-free fixing of the mounting bracket to any surface. The cup fits snugly onto the bracket, providing a stable and inviting nesting spot. The lattice like structure that is built within the cups’ walls acts as a trap for air and gives the cup an element of insulation – protecting the birds from both excessive heat and cold.

Placing Your House Martin Cup:

Height: Hang the House Martin cup at a medium height of 4 to 6 meters (13 to 20 feet) from the ground. House Martins prefer nesting in elevated locations, such as under eaves or building ledges.

Open Habitat: Position the cup in open areas with clear airspace, preferably near water bodies or open spaces where House Martins can forage for insects – their preferred prey.

Orientation: Face the entrance of the cup towards a sheltered direction, away from prevailing winds and direct sunlight. This provides a cosy and protected environment for nesting House Martins.

Clear Flight Path: Ensure there are no obstacles obstructing the flight path to the cup, such as branches or wires. House Martins need a clear approach and departure route for easy access.

Privacy and Seclusion: Choose a location away from high human activity or disturbance. House Martins prefer quiet and secluded environments for nesting and raising their young.

With our House Martin cup, you create an opportunity to witness the delightful behaviours of these fascinating birds in your own outdoor space.
