Ulmus ‘Lutece’ is a modern, disease-resistant elm selected for its graceful form, fresh green foliage, and excellent resilience against Dutch elm disease. It brings back the elegant silhouette of traditional elms while offering far greater reliability in today’s landscape.
Elms are incredibly valuable for UK wildlife. Their leaves support a wide range of caterpillars and invertebrates, which in turn provide food for birds and other species. As the tree matures, its branching structure offers nesting opportunities and seasonal shelter, helping to restore a once-dominant native presence in British gardens and landscapes.
‘Lutece’ is a strong-growing deciduous tree, ideal for larger gardens or as a feature specimen. It develops a broad, upright canopy over time and thrives in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
Planting disease-resistant elms is one of the most meaningful ways to support biodiversity while honouring the legacy of our lost native elms.
Supplied in a 12 litre pot.
Eventual size: approx. 12–15m tall (with broad spreading canopy).
