Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) is a striking native perennial known for its vivid golden, button-like flowers that appear in mid to late summer. Held in flat-topped clusters above aromatic, fern-like foliage, it brings bold colour and structure to wildlife-friendly planting.
Its nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to a wide range of pollinators, including bees, hoverflies, beetles and other beneficial insects. The dense flower heads provide accessible feeding platforms, while the strong stems offer structure and shelter within mixed borders.
Traditionally found along riverbanks, roadsides and meadow edges, Tansy is a robust and resilient plant that thrives in well-drained soils and sunny positions. It works beautifully in wildlife borders, meadow-style planting, or naturalistic schemes where height and late-season colour are needed.
Tansy has a long history in traditional gardens and folklore, valued not just for its beauty but for its ecological role in supporting insect life.
Supplied in a 9cm pot, ideal for establishing into wildlife-friendly perennial borders. 3 and 5 plant quantity discounts.
Eventual size: Typically reaches around 90-120cm tall and 45-60cm wide in suitable conditions.
