Sorbus aucuparia ‘Beissneri’ is a beautifully elegant form of our native rowan, prized for its clean, upright habit and striking silvery-grey bark as it matures. With its finely textured foliage, spring blossom, and vibrant autumn berries, it offers year-round interest in a wildlife-friendly garden.
In late spring, clusters of creamy white flowers provide nectar for pollinators, while in autumn the bright red-orange berries become an essential food source for birds such as blackbirds, thrushes, and waxwings. Rowan is one of the most valuable small native trees for supporting wildlife, offering nectar, shelter, and seasonal food.
‘Beissneri’ is particularly suited to smaller gardens where a graceful, upright tree is desired without overwhelming the space. It tolerates poorer soils and slightly exposed positions, making it a resilient and reliable choice for British conditions.
Supplied as an established tree in a 12 litre container.
Eventual size: approx. 6–8m tall x 3–4m spread.
