Additional Info

Sorbus aria ‘Lutescens’ is a beautifully distinctive whitebeam tree, grown for its striking silvery-grey foliage that brings light and contrast to the landscape. Its leaves emerge with a soft, felted sheen, making it one of the most elegant small-to-medium trees for wildlife-friendly gardens.

In late spring, clusters of creamy white flowers provide nectar for bees and other pollinators. These are followed in autumn by small red berries, which offer an important seasonal food source for birds.

Whitebeam is a wonderfully resilient tree, tolerant of wind, pollution, and poorer soils, making it an excellent choice for both rural and urban gardens. ‘Lutescens’ combines this toughness with a refined ornamental beauty - a tree that supports wildlife while also adding year-round structure and colour.

Best grown in sun or partial shade, where its foliage can truly shine.

Supplied as an established tree in a 12 litre container.
Eventual size: approx. 8–12m tall x 4–6m spread.
