A late-flowering perennial that becomes a magnet for bees and butterflies in autumn. Tough, reliable and an absolute wildlife garden essential.
Joel says… “If you only plant one thing for autumn insects, make it ‘Autumn Joy’ - it’s usually buzzing when everything else has given up.”
From £7.95
Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is a much-loved, late-flowering perennial that becomes one of the most important food sources for pollinators as summer turns into autumn.
Its large, flat flower heads open soft pink in late summer, gradually deepening to rich copper and russet tones as the season progresses. During this period, the plant is often alive with bees, butterflies and hoverflies feeding on the abundant nectar when many other flowers have faded.
Fleshy, blue-green foliage forms neat clumps earlier in the year, making this a reliable and attractive plant even before it comes into flower. Exceptionally tough and drought-tolerant once established, ‘Autumn Joy’ thrives in sunny, well-drained positions and needs very little maintenance.
A true wildlife garden essential that earns its place every single year.
