Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) is a classic British wildflower known for its rounded, pinkish-purple flower heads and soft, three-lobed leaves. A valuable nectar source from May through September, Red Clover supports bumblebees, honeybees, solitary bees, butterflies, and beetles - and its deep roots also help improve soil structure and fertility.
This perennial legume is especially suited to meadows, grassy banks, orchard areas, and wilder borders. It quietly gets on with feeding pollinators, fixing nitrogen in the soil, and adding a warm splash of colour through the growing season.
Joel says...
“Red Clover does everything you’d want from a wildflower - it’s beautiful, great for bees, improves the soil, and supports meadow structure really well. It’s an underrated hero of the pollinator world and pesticide- and peat-free, of course!”
🌱 Why Choose Peat-Free?
Our Red Clover is grown using completely peat-free compost in both 9cm pots and Super Plugs. Supporting peat-free means protecting the UK’s vanishing peatlands - crucial habitats for dragonflies, rare birds, mosses, and the future of soil biodiversity.
🌿 Available in:
• 9cm Pots - sold individually
• Peat-Free Super Plugs - available in 8, 16, 32, or 48-packs
