“If you want instant movement and bees in your garden, plant nepeta. It flowers for months and proves wildlife planting can still look beautifully designed.” More info below:

Nepeta × faassenii, commonly known as Catmint, is one of those rare plants that bridges the gap between ornamental beauty and genuine wildlife value. Though not native to the UK, it more than earns its place in a wildlife-friendly garden by providing an exceptionally long season of nectar for bees, hoverflies and butterflies.
Flowering from late spring right through summer (and often into early autumn if lightly trimmed), its soft violet-blue blooms form hazy drifts above aromatic grey-green foliage. Pollinators absolutely adore it - on a warm day the flowers hum with life.
Nepeta is also wonderfully practical. Drought tolerant once established, unfussy about soil, and naturally low-maintenance, it’s ideal for softening pond edges (in drier zones), weaving through wildlife borders, or edging paths where structure and movement are needed. It creates that relaxed, naturalistic planting style Joel champions - designed, but never rigid.
This is a plant for people who want their gardens to feel alive for months on end.
