Narcissus ‘Falconet’ is a fragrant, multi-flowered daffodil producing clusters of golden-yellow flowers with rich orange-red cups in spring.
Growing to around 30-40cm, its compact, floriferous habit works beautifully through informal borders and naturalistic spring planting. Its open flowers can also provide useful additional forage for visiting spring insects.
Joel says…
“Falconet is a really useful daffodil where you want plenty of spring colour without huge flowers dominating the planting. I’d put them into loose groups and let other spring plants grow naturally around them.”

Narcissus ‘Falconet’ is a wonderfully cheerful, multi-flowered daffodil, producing clusters of golden-yellow petals surrounding warm orange-red cups on each sturdy stem.
Rather than producing a single large flower per stem, ‘Falconet’ belongs to the Tazetta group of daffodils, giving it several flowers together and creating a particularly generous display from relatively few bulbs.
Growing to around 30-40cm tall, it works beautifully through sunny borders, beneath open deciduous planting, in informal spring displays and amongst other bulbs and early-flowering perennials.
Its flowers are also fragrant, making this a lovely daffodil to plant close to paths, seating areas or places where its spring scent can be enjoyed.
Although ‘Falconet’ is a cultivated daffodil rather than a native species, its open, single flowers can be visited by insects seeking spring forage.
We therefore regard it as useful additional spring forage within a varied wildlife-friendly garden, rather than giving it the same ecological importance as our native and long-established spring bulbs.
For the greatest wildlife value, combine ornamental daffodils such as ‘Falconet’ with native and naturalised spring plants flowering across the same period.
Position: Full sun or light partial shade
Soil: Fertile, reasonably well-drained soil; avoid permanently waterlogged ground
Planting depth: Approximately 10-15cm deep, or roughly two to three times the height of the bulb
Spacing: Approximately 10cm apart, or plant more informally in loose groups
Height: Approximately 30-40cm
Flowering: Usually March to April, depending on location and conditions
Aftercare: Allow foliage to yellow and die back naturally after flowering. This allows the bulbs to replenish their reserves for the following year's display.
For a more naturalistic effect, avoid planting in rigid rows. Instead, scatter bulbs loosely through suitable areas before planting where they fall.
One of the great attractions of Tazetta-type daffodils such as ‘Falconet’ is their multi-headed flowering habit.
Several flowers can be carried on an individual stem, creating a fuller display without relying on the enormous flowerheads found in some modern daffodils.
That makes ‘Falconet’ particularly useful where you want plenty of spring colour while retaining a lighter, more naturalistic character.
Daffodil bulbs and other parts of the plant are toxic if eaten and can cause significant gastrointestinal irritation.
Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin when handling bulbs, and keep bulbs away from children and pets likely to ingest them.
We carefully select bulbs that earn their place in a wildlife-friendly garden — prioritising native and naturalised species where ecological relationships matter most, alongside carefully chosen ornamentals that provide useful additional forage.
Orders are hand-picked for quality and packed in paper wherever suitable, with breathable net packaging used where necessary to keep bulbs in the best possible condition.
We work with specialist bulb growers and suppliers, including long-established local growers.
