Honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum) - Native Climber for Moths & Wildlife

Honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum), also known as woodbine, is a native climbing plant with exceptional value for wildlife, particularly moths and night-flying insects.  A true UK native.

From early summer onwards, its beautifully scented tubular flowers open in the evening, releasing a rich fragrance that draws in moths, night-flying pollinators and other insects. These insects, in turn, support bats and birds, making honeysuckle a vital part of the wider food web.

Naturally found in hedgerows, woodland edges and scrub, native honeysuckle thrives when allowed to climb through trees, shrubs, fences or trellises. Later in the year, its red berries provide food for birds, while the dense growth offers shelter and nesting opportunities.

A true native climber that supports wildlife by day and night.
