Hazel (Corylus ‘Webb’s Prize Cob’) is a traditional, award-winning cobnut variety, prized for its heavy crops of large, flavoursome nuts and superb value to wildlife.
In early spring, it produces pretty yellow catkins that offer precious early pollen for bees when little else is in bloom. By late summer into autumn, clusters of large cobnuts develop, feeding you and local wildlife like squirrels, jays and even the occasional hungry dormouse.
Joel says: “‘Webb’s Prize Cob’ is a top-notch cobnut — lovely spring catkins, and brilliant cover for garden wildlife. Easy to keep tidy and productive." Supplied in a 7 litre container. THESE WILL NOW BE AVAILABLE TO ORDER FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF JULY FOR DELIVERY IN THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST 2025 More info below:£72.00
Naturally vigorous and bushy, ‘Webb’s Prize Cob’ reaches around 4–5 metres tall and wide if left unchecked, but it responds beautifully to pruning or coppicing to keep it compact and productive. Perfect for a wildlife-friendly hedge or as a feature nut bush in larger gardens — and a brilliant way to add edible bounty and biodiversity at the same time.
