Goatsbeard ‘Tragopogon pratensis’

Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon. Yellow daisy flower with narrow sepal-like bracts projected from the yellow florets. Common names include Jack-go-to-bed-at-noon, meadow salsify, showy goat’s-beard or meadow goat’s-beard. The flower heads only open in the morning sunshine, hence the name ‘Jack go to bed at noon'. Young shoots and roots of meadow salsify can be used in diabetic salads.
