Camomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is a fragrant, mat-forming native wildflower with dainty white-petalled daisies and feathery, apple-scented foliage. Flowering from June to September, it's a low-growing favourite of solitary bees, hoverflies, and small beetles - and it brings a gentle softness to lawns, borders, and sunny open spaces.
Camomile thrives in well-drained, low-nutrient soils and tolerates light foot traffic, making it ideal for wildlife lawns, gravel paths, or between stepping stones. It’s one of those plants that quietly lifts a space, adding scent, beauty, and ecological value all at once.
Joel says...
“I’ve always loved Camomile in those quiet spots of a garden - it weaves around edges, softens gaps, and smells incredible when you brush past it. It’s low-key but full of life, and grown peat-free, it’s gentle on the land too.”
